Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
Ongoing research provides evidence that the adoption of Learning 2.0 as a professional development program for emerging information technologies yields personal benefits for library staff that include increased confidence, a willingness to explore and increased comfort with technology. Most participants report success in the program. Success from the program is described in various ways, including incorporating the tools in the library setting, feeling more comfortable and confident exploring new technologies, adopting the tools into personal practice and better awareness of emerging technologies overall. The presentation will provide updates about new models and delivery of this style of learning and include suggestions for exemplary practice based evidence for those seeking to enhance their professional development offerings. These ideas and the results of recent studies offer support for professional development librarians and administrators to utilize this free, open program for staff training.
