Greetings! I'm Laura Gayle Green, Music/Media Librarian at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. I graduated with my MLS from Indiana University in 1990, worked in the Music Library at IU as a grant project cataloger until January 1993, when I started at UMKC. My responsibilities include collection management in music, dance, and theatre, supervising a circulation/reserve/reference desk for Music/Media, library instruction, reference in the assigned subject areas, faculty liaison, etc. ec. Our Conservatory of Music and Dance has about 650 students and offers degrees through the DMA, so those folks keep me quite busy! It's a lot of work and a lot of fun.

I've also published articles and book chapters, have been heavily involved with the Music Library Association (http://www.musiclibraryassoc.org), and also very involved in faculty governance at UMKC.

So what about Library 2.0? I'm on the "Discovery Team" in our library, a group of folks examining various Lib2.0 technologies. I've implemented a library toolbar for Music and Music Ed/Music Therapy using Conduit (http://www.conduit.com). The toolbars have a small but mighty following. I'm using Facebook and MySpace to connect with students and faculty. Students read announcements there regarding databases -- and they'd miss those on the library web page! We're looking at various content management systems for our library web pages, and I'm looking forward to the potential for decentralized control of web pages.

I'm looking forward to learning and sharing with colleagues in this forum. Any other folks who work with the performing arts out there?

Hey Laura,

Nice to see that music librarians are well represented here. :)
Hey Bob, good to see you here too! Were you in Pittsburgh-- I didn't run into you and I usually do!
No, I wasn't. Due to limited funds, we have to trade off on conference attendance. The result is that I miss MLA this year but get to go to IAML (Sydney, AU). Hopefully I'll be in Newport next year.

And, pertinent to this group, I wish I could be in Crystal City again for the Computers in Libraries conference in April.
