Does anyone have any feedback/experience using Vocera? My system is getting ready to start roving reference service out in the stacks and we're looking for something to facilitate communication between and within our buildings. From the research I've done, it seems like this type of product is the best to go with. I've also been looking at VOIP phones, but they usually seem rather bulky in comparison.

Krista,

Our libraries seem to be walking down similar paths! We just purchased Vocera for use in one our largest Community Libraries. Our Roving Reference Task Team supported this decision after visiting the Seattle Public Library, an existing Vocera customer. They offered us good feedback about their use of this product.

Wow, Lorrie Ann, can you tell me more? Are you using it already? How many devices did your library decide to buy? I've set up a Vocera demo for my system in July so that we can get a better feel for the product. Did you library look at any other devices? I am amazed that there seems to be no real competitor yet for Vocera even though it's been on the market for a few years now and most of what I've read about it has been very positive.

Krista and/or Lorrie Ann,

What's happening with Vocera? I'm finding info on public libraries but nothing yet for academic libraries, also curious about pricing.

The new Central Library in Minneapolis uses Vocera. Staff wears the little communicators on lanyards and they use it to talk in their multi-story building. Perhaps you could contact them for their comments. It's another public library tho ...
