Full Session Description (as long as you would like): This session will introduce 14 examples of best practices for racially diverse public library collections and services for youth. These examples emerged from state-wide multiple case study research in South Carolina’s public libraries and fall into four categories: Collection, Staff, Programming and Outreach, and Continuing Education. While applicable to youth services in public libraries, the examples also relate to general public library service and collection development. Specific, evidence-based examples will be offered for all of the best practices, along with implications for public library services to multicultural communities in urban and rural settings.
