Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
Traditionally, special collections have been composed of materials separated from general library collections for use by specific patron groups. This presentation will discuss the development of several digital and virtual mini special collections created as part of the Bryant & Stratton College Virtual Library in order to serve the information needs of specific sub-groups of patrons within the Bryant & Stratton College four-state community. The library holds special mini collections meant to serve students engaged in database research, students using the Career Services office at the Cleveland Downtown campus, faculty at all campus locations, and librarians at all campus locations. The presentation will address the design and implementation of the Printable Handouts by Database mini collection, Career Services Newsletter Archive mini collection, Faculty Research and Planning Grid mini collection, Pathfinder Archive mini collection, Virtual Librarians’ Office mini collection, Faculty Resources mini collection, and the Caring+ Bibliography Archive mini collection. Attendees will be encouraged to share their thoughts on how the development of such special mini collections might benefit their academic communities.
