How one public library system built a successful grant-funded financial literacy program by utilizing strong partnerships,adapting existing program designs, and topping it off with creative marketing approaches.

The Florence County Library System recently instituted a highly successful financial literacy initiative funded through the Smart Investing@your library® program, a partnership between ALA and the FINRA Investor Education Foundation. This presentation includes tips on how the library leveraged the resources of existing successful partnerships, proven program models, and custom-tailored marketing strategies to reach all age levels in the community and register a significant impact on the financial knowledge of local citizens. The library’s "Money Madness Teen Lock-In," for example, drew a record attendance of 189 teens and was selected to receive the 2012 Southeastern Library Association Outstanding Program Award. This presentation includes strategies that can be adapted to many aspects of library programming.
