Full Session Description (as long as you would like): In 2008, Loertscher, Koechlin, and Zwaan introduced the reinvention of the school library and computer laboratory into a Learning Commons. In contrast to the learning commons concept popular in academic libraries, this K-`12 model focuses on the LC as the center for quality teaching and learning in the school and the formation of a giant collaborative of students, teachers, and specialists in both a physical space and a virtual learning commons. In this hour-long session, David and Carol will not only explain the LC concept, but mark its progress and development in North America.
