How data mining and machine learning is important in libraries?

Question: As alphago has won the Go match, what can data mining, machine learning and artificial intelligence do for the libraries and librarianship?

[This is a really broad question. My answer would be something related to analyses of user data, improvement of data service, improvement of resource recommendation in OPAC, etc.]

Hi everyone, I am a Computer Science PhD student in University of Liverpool (chinese branch). I am studying automatic knowledge derivation from academic social tagging systems like Bibsonomy or CiteULike.

Although now I am not working in a library, but I go to library every day, either the academic library or the public libraries in my city, Suzhou. Besides, I was a library student in Wuhan University and also studied my master in University of Sheffield. Nice meeting you all here.
