Hi-
I've been interested in some kind of library job/career for a few years now. I've tried volunteering at some local libraries, tried making some contacts through networking and asking for advice, etc. But I always feel like I'm bothering these people and the communication always fades out.
My question is, is an MLS necessary? I live in a city with a great program, but the truth is, I just cant afford it now or the debt that will come with it.
What are the options for someone passionate about public libraries and looking for a new career, without an MLS? Do I just try my best to secure a clerk or page position and work my way up somehow?
Thanks!
