Target Audience(s): Academic Instruction Librarians/Instructional Designers
Short Session Description (one line): Evaluation of a program as it moved from a face to face workshop to an online synchronous module.
Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
In the Fall of 2010, while Information Literacy Librarian at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), I redesigned a part of the Freshmen Information Literacy program (embedded in Freshmen Composition) from a 90 minute face to face session into an online asynchronous module using sound instruction design principles. I will present the summative assessment conducted to determine if the online module is an effective replacement for the face to face workshop. The assessment included student participation and grade comparison to previous semesters, observation, viewcount vs. submission comparison, review by instruction librarians outside of NJIT, survey of students, and instructor feedback. Results are used as a formative assessment as well to make improvements to the course each semester.

Permalink Reply by Alice Tyrell on September 30, 2012 at 12:49pm I don't think I'll be able to join you live, but I'm very much looking forward to seeing the recording of your session afterwards. Sounds like you've done a very well-rounded evaluation of your project; interested to see what you conclude!
