Short Session Description (one line): the opportunities and challenges in studying for an American MLIS degree while living in another country.
Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
Online MLIS degrees offer the possibility of extensive geographic diversity among the student body. Increasingly, online MLIS degrees from U.S. institutions are attracting those living outside the country. Motivations for students vary depending on circumstance. Many are Americans living temporarily abroad who plan to return to the U.S. as qualified librarians. However, others are foreign students who will use their degree within international agencies, with some taking advantage of reciprocal accreditation recognition between the U.S. and Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the United Kingdom.
This session will discuss the advantages and challenges in studying for an American MLIS degree while living in another country. In addition, it will explore career opportunities and issues both for candidates returning to the U.S., and those continuing to live abroad.
This session looks so interesting, Charlotte. Thank you for submitting a proposal on such an interesting topic!
