I would love some suggestions for popular titles or authors for middle school kids. Mainly, I am looking for for fiction books surrounding these three topics:

1- African-American culture (like Bluford High books or works by Sharon Draper, Jaqueline Woodson, and W.D. Myers)
2- Humorous tales (like Diary of a Wimpy Kid)
3- Friendship/Romance (like the Clique series)

I've got some avid readers who are hungry for new titles!

Humerous Tales - I always loved the Gordon Korman books, growing up in the 90s. I believe he has about 65 books published now. They are hilarious.
"African-American Culture"
I highly recommend Angela Johnson (The First Part Last and Heaven) and Nikki Grimes (Bronx Masquerade, Dark Sons, Jazmin's Notebook).
My girls love anything by Lurlene McDaniel for love/friendship.
