Full Session Description (as long as you would like): In April 2016, the Special Libraries Association adopted a new statement of “Competencies for Information Professionals” (http://www.sla.org/about-sla/competencies/ ). In this presentation, Professor David Shumaker, who chaired the Competencies Task Force, will highlight some of the key updates from past competencies documents, and discuss how every student, educator, librarian, and library manager can use the competencies to advance personal, professional, and organizational goals.
