@Fasola | The role of the reference librarian is definitely changing. Many of those positions will morph into more advanced and/or diversified positions. Still, many will remain virtually unchanged indefinitely.

Most users don't know how to use library databases. Many don't even know they exist. Using any standard of authority, one cannot deny the quality of material information in those databases is vastly superior to what is available online.

Libraries pay a lot of money for those databases and need to push them harder, especially to researchers and students. Does the general public have a great need for them? No. But students, researchers, and educators do, and together they form a substantial element.

Whilst we are moving with this technology in the right direction can we also adapt such to suit the informational needs of disabled students, free open access software for the disabled, any recommendations or suggestion s to this effect.

"To ask why we need libraries at all, when there is so much information available elsewhere, is about as sensible as asking if roadmaps are necessary now that there are so very many roads." - Jon Bing, Professor of Information Technology Law, University of Oslo, Norway

It works for librarians, too, or maybe even better.

Hello all,
How useful is the reference Librarian in these days of information availability on the internet? The role of the reference Librarian is changing and it seems as if the post will no longer be relevant when one considers how easy it is to access information without aid.

Twitter serves libraries in a number of ways: push events/programs into the community, e-reference, and brand monitoring are just a few of the best ways librarians can use Twitter.

Hi, I'm a argentinian librarians and I work in a academic library. We want to go the Web 1.0 to web 2.0. What is your advice for the change?
