I would like to use this blog to discuss the issue of the digital divide. It seems to me that the gap is widening with the 2.0 applications. I work in a K - 6 school in a mixed socio-economic area. Some of the students are way ahead of me and others have never touched a computer before they came to school and have no access at home. How are all of you dealing with this issue?

Thanks, I hope we get some real discussion going on this topic.

I'm not sure I have any answers to this question. I am an academic librarian and some faculty take for granted that students are already "plugged-in" when often times they are not. Some come from households where a computer was considered a luxury they could not afford, while others came from school distrcits where using a computer and emerging technologies were not encouraged or expected.

This is a great topic and I would love to hear from more of our colleagues.

Thanks the post.
