the future of libraries in the digital age
I am a Proffesional Librarian, working for the City of Cape Town currently. I have worked for different libraries : Academic Library, School Library and now working for a Public Library. Working in the Public Library is realy challenging more especially if you are working in African Townships, first of all people don't have enough knowledge about the Librarianship,,and don't even know how to use the library effectively . We are dealing with school learners who are coming in huge numbers because they don't have school libraries and the curriculum also needs them to use the library. There is a lack / no cooperation between the Department of Education and Public Libraries. The workload is too much for example you may find out that one library is serving around about seven schools and that makes it complicated for the public librarians to serve the school learners.

As a librarian, I can do my own research because the source is at my fingertips. And sometimes I do joke about being a librarian I would have all the answers. lol.
