Short Session Description (one line):

Ad hoc instructional design: Being an internal consultant

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

Often in smaller to medium-sized academic libraries there is not a designated “instructional design librarian” or even access to instructional designers. However, librarians knowledgeable about instructional design and systems thinking can act in the role of an internal consultant for design projects, adding a special component to the team dynamic.

In this session, I will discuss my role as an “ad hoc instructional designer” at my institution and how I have leveraged this role to become more involved in instructional design and technology projects in the library and beyond. Then, I will discuss ways that others can also dive into similar roles in their institutions.
