Short Session Description (one line): MLIS holders are working in a variety of jobs in federal government, and this session will explore the opportunities in federal librarianship for those candidates.

 

Full Session Description (as long as you would like): 

Those holding an MLIS degree are able to work in federal government as librarians, social media specialists, program planners, analysts, knowledge managers, and in many other different careers. Did you know that there are all types of libraries in federal government (academic, public, technical, medical, school, law, and special libraries) all around the world?  
Join us in this session to meet federal information professionals, gather resume tips and interview techniques, discover internships, practicums, and fellowships opportunities. Learn how to review the 40 or so new jobs posted each week.  This session will help you discover the alternate jobs which you qualify to do and educate you about how to apply for them.

Thanks, Jaime!  I hope that you're getting excited about the number of jobs that are out there for you.  Feel free to send me a resume if you want a review or any assistance. 

 

I know the average annual salary of a federal librarian in 2009 was over $84,000, but I didn't want to put that into the session description.  Who knows if the average salary will drop anytime soon.  Many people are retiring, and the new ones are coming in at lower grades.
