Short Session Description (one line): This session will address different aspects of the publishing process with regards to student publishing.

Full Session Description (as long as you would like): The two presenters, both former editors with the SJSU SLIS Student Research Journal (SRJ), will discuss different aspects of the publishing process with regards to student publishing. Topics will include different types of publications (scholarly vs. non-scholarly); the different steps in the publishing process and why the process can take so long; what constitutes research; and the benefits of publishing to students. The presentation will address  publishing as a way of participating in the professional and academic discourse, an essential skill for future librarians, and the different options available to students in today's networked world.
