Short Session Description (one line): This session will discuss academic publishing from the perspective of an early library professional.

Full Session Description (as long as you would like): The presenter, a former content editor and contributor to the SJSU SLIS Student Research Journal (SRJ), will discuss her own transition from graduate student to tenure-track faculty librarian. She will discuss the different considerations pertinent to students and early professionals as they pursue publishing opportunities in the field of library and information science. Topics will include different types of publications (scholarly vs. non-scholarly), pursuing collaborative opportunities, the Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval process, and suggestions for organizing one’s work.
