Short Session Description:
Learn how to support learning across the curriculum through digital storytelling using iPads and Green Screen by DoInk, iStopMotion and Google Drive.
Full Session Description:
Digital storytelling can be used as a powerful method for teaching research, writing and a video skills. It is a powerful method through which to build on important skills and improving student engagement. It can be used in any topic, in any subject, in any grade. The process of telling a story digitally, not only motivates and engages students in dynamic experiences, but empowers them to take charge of the creative process.
During this session we will demonstrate how to use Green Screen by DoInk with iStopMotion and Google Drive, to create exciting animation work and moving newspapers using iPads. These activities can be easily adapted for use across grades and across the curriculum.
Participants will be given an overview of the work we have done in this area, which includes research, storyboards, template creation and video production.
We will share examples of student work, offer workflow tips, and share our online lessons, which participants can make use of. We will share select examples of what other schools are doing and open a discussion with participants based on their own ideas and experiences.
It is our hope that the ideas and resources we share with teachers and librarians will inspire them to attempt their own projects this school year, while empowering their students, building on important skills, and working collaboratively with others at their schools.
