Short Session Description (one line): Discover ways to introduce coding concepts to children as young as four years old.

Full Session Description (as long as you would like): Librarians and other educators are becoming increasingly aware of the value and demand for teaching computer programming to youth. Children first need to develop a flexible thinking process that looks for creative solutions to a problem. In this session, learn how library staff design programs that introduce the basic concepts of coding to children, as young as 4 years old, through hands-on activities. Speakers will discuss the importance of offering coding programs while explaining how to best implement them into your library. Speakers will also guide participants on what to look for when selecting products and identify challenges faced with beginning coding programs for young children. Then, take a look at how select hands on games, robots, and activities have been incorporated into 1-hour library programs.
