Incorporating Digital Storytelling Into Your Instruction: A Toolkit


Digital storytelling is an exciting method of creating movie-like personal narratives using a mix of text, narration, still and video images, and music (see this site for examples:

A growing body of research suggests that digital storytelling projects incorporated into classroom instruction foster the learning of multiliteracies and have a positive impact on individual student achievement.  These types of projects can be incorporated into any curriculum and setting – individually, collaboratively, in-person or online - to motivate and engage students of all ages, from elementary school to senior citizens, in authentic learning and personal expression.


Session participants will receive:

·      a bibliography compiling relevant literature supporting these claims

·      ideas for how to incorporate digital storytelling projects into any subject curriculum

·      an overview of how to conduct a digital storytelling project

·      examples of digital storytelling projects and initiatives

·      links to more in-depth tutorials and resources

·      assessment resources and suggestions

·      a handout regarding ethical/legal issues (copyright, etc.)
