Full Session Description (as long as you would like): In this session, Davis Erin Anderson and Ray Pun will discuss strategies for librarians who wish to consider moving to a different type of library or information workplace. Armed with case studies from their 2016 publication “Career Transitions for Librarians: Proven Strategies for Moving to Another Type of Library,” Davis and Ray will discuss the strategies library and archives workers have used to move among and between law, medical, government, specialized, and academic workplaces. The presenters will share best practices and tips from the 30+ contributors to “Career Transitions…” who have successfully moved from one type of library into another.
Participants interested in learning more about different kinds of library/librarian jobs and how their skills can meet the demands of these settings will find this webinar to be encouraging and helpful. This presentation will cover important skills and experiences needed for success in any workplace, and will provide techniques for mapping out one’s own career path in our rapidly changing field.
