  • Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

The presentation will cover the connection between data gathering and self-learning AI algorithms that will produce complex knowledge attached to individuals using online communications. One of the most important issues facing society is the extensive surveillance and data gathering by various commercial sources that are combined and processed through ever more sophisticated algorithms. The more powerful 5G network will make these operations much faster and more complex. It will now be gathered data not just from online sources, but also from personal assistants, smart TVs, smart city infrastructure, self driving vehicles, drones, and household appliances connected to the internet of things. As this data pool grows, self-learning AI improves its algorithms. AI will be able to create ever more sophisticated and pertinent knowledge of individual persons honing its algorithms to manipulate their behaviour.  In the hands of corporate and political actors, AI will be used to manipulate individuals and groups for the benefit of these corporations and/or political interests, and not the individual users.
