Short Session Description (one line): MOOCs and Constructivist Information Literacy

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):  As MOOCs (massive open online courses) and open source content continue to emerge as potential learning opportunities in digital culture, librarians must explore new tools for promoting information literacy skills that assure critical thinking and evaluation of resources for the next generation of learners.  Constructivist learning theory promotes a philosophy of collaboration which is rapidly expanding on a global scale.  This session will share both pros and cons of MOOCs alongside best practices for understanding information literacy needs in new media formats.
