Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
The Los Angeles Public Library and the Catalyst IMLS-funded project at San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science are conducting planning grants to explore residency models for recent Masters of Library and Information Science (MLIS) graduates. The LAPL grant is focused on models for public libraries, while the Catalyst grant is focused on models integrating emerging technology into a variety of library settings. During this planning phase, both grant projects are exploring how to design a residency program that effectively embeds new graduates into library settings. These activities will allow us to fully form a competitive grant application to implement residency programs going forward.
In this session, we will share the preliminary findings of our research and insights to date, and then open discussion to conference participants to solicit their thoughts and best practices.
