The paper discusses the effect of social media on library services in digital environment as an emerging tool in library and information management. Social Media is a social platform that enables the user to interact, communicate and work collaboratively with other users. This includes the ability to browse, disseminate information, search, invite friends to connect and interact with web world. Social media software, in the web 2.0 environment, would not only enhance the practical usability of the library but also make librarians more prominent and relevant in the digital environment. In this presentation, the presenters demonstrate the use of some social networking technologies such as Google Group, Twitter and LinkedIn and exhibit how they can be used to promote library services in today’s information saturated world. Webcasting technology will be used for demonstration.
