Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
In this session, I will discuss my journey to become an instructional design librarian not once, but twice in two very different institutions. I began my career at a small state school where, in addition to instructional design, I wore a variety of other hats. During my time there, I used my work and professional development to deeply explore what it meant to me to be an instructional design librarian and gained a much better understanding of the skills that I needed in the role. At my current institution, a state university, the role of instructional design librarian takes on a different meaning. As the first person to hold this title at this institution, I am charged with new responsibilities. However, I find that many of the lessons I learned early in my career still apply as I navigate what it means to be the Instructional Design Librarian at a larger institution with different needs and expectations.
