Short Session Description (one line): This session will cover the dynamics of providing online reference and instruction, and maintaining virtual relationships with faculty and students.


Full Session Description (as long as you would like): Currently I work with a small team of online librarians to provide online reference services to almost 50,000 students. How do we do it? I will discuss providing chat, email, and phone reference, and how we provide a "teachable moment" in every interaction with a student. As well as providing online library instruction in a virtual classroom. In this session I will go over how important tone in email, chat, and phone are when communicating with students in the online environment. Also, how I communicate and build relationships with faculty in this online environment.

Recent projections all report more students are taking classes in a virtual environment or hybrid environment.  Interested in learning more about the virtual classroom and how library instruction is taught.
