Hi,

I see that the video I embedded in my presentation isn't working when I go into Collaborate.  I can share my desktop but when I was a SJSU student, I had very bad luck with sharing my desktop.  I was wondering if there was a way for someone to meet me in a practice room to tell me if/that my desktop sharing is working ok and they can see and hear the video?

Thanks,

Donna

Someone was able to tell me that the desktop sharing wasn't working well.  That was Robin, I think.  Thanks for the help.  I figured out where I could get the video on the web for a web tour and tried it out and it seemed to work.  A couple of people came into the Collaborate session when I was testing it but I didn't get any feedback from them.  Is there someone who could meet me in a practice session to tell me that the web tour is coming through fine?

Thanks,

Donna

Hi,

I tried again but nobody stopped into the room. I recorded the session.  Could someone tell me where the recording might be so that I could have a look at it to make sure that the web tour worked?

Thanks,

Donna

There is a Training - Blackboard Collaborate for Presenting & Moderating today. Maybe you could join and try it.

Yes, this is something we do cover in the training, since showing video is difficult in web presentation platforms.  As you noted, embedding into the presentation doesn't work (Bb Collaborate strips it out in the conversion).  A desktop share would show the video, but it would be "laggy" and there's no direct method for the sound to come through.  Using the Web tour feature is really the best option.  Cheers!
