Hi, I am a librarian in one of Developing Countries, Indonesia. I join this group because I would like to learn the issues about the library in the developing countries including Indonesia. I am especially interested in the discussion of the use of technology in the developing countries. I believe there must be something in common with our experience in our library.

Hello. I am working at RMIT University in Australia. RMIT also has campuses in Vietnam in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Last year I was privileged to organise a staff development program which involved staff in Australia and Vietnam. Some Vietnam staff visited Melbourne, Australia; four Australian staff offered workshops in Vietnam; and we had several times for discussions online in real time. If you are interested to read more about it, check out

We all learnt a lot from each other and we now have a number of professional pairs formed to continue swapping ideas.

I'm a system Analyst in a University Library in Nigeria. I'm interested in finding answers to the many challenges that face Libraries in the developing world.

I am glad that this group now exists. However, small number of members shows how librarians and information experts from developing countries are related to this problem. I guess, everyday problems we struggle with are what prevents us all to participate more and try to gain some use out of this process from which both us and our users could and should benefit.

Here is one discussion in the uncategorized discussion, with the title Developing Countries, that discuss about applying Web 2.0 in the Developing Countries. There is some obstacles identified, such as lack of internet access, and language barriers. Thanks to Fedja, because from her page we can track to this discussion.
