Hi Joanna,
I'm a teacher librarian & recently started a community based blog for getting boys to read - http://GettingBoysToRead.com. Please send me a friend request if you'd like to network, share ideas, and learn more about getting boys to read.

Sincerely,
Mike McQueen

Joanna,

Sorry about accusing you of being a Californian! I was asleep at the wheel.

As for the Griffith thing, in my library system we have one male Griffith, one female Griffith, and one female Griffiths - and none of us are related. We are well over our Griffith quota!

From what I hear, my paternal grandfather's side of the family was thrown out of Ireland. No Welsh heritage to claim for me.

Joanna,

Thanks for joining the Creative Librarians discussion group.

So, is there a law in California about playing the flute and hockey at the same time, or is just a motor skill issue?

Hi Joanna, thanks for the add. I'm in the process of transition with my job from a more traditional library to a role in creating learning objects for teaching and learning. The role is not fully defined yet and I want to fully realise the potential of many of the Web 2 tools in helping to promote the e-resources we currently hold and for any future projects . Like you I'm enjoying these developments but sometimes get frustrated because the reality hasn't caught up with the vision in our organisation. So in practical terms I often have to experiment with new digital technologies outside of work. Hopefully that will change with the transition to the new position of Resource developer. I'll be interested to keep up with what you are doing in your role. Cheers, Lisa

Hi Joanna,
The Computers in Libraries article about our online library card registration and e-Card service is available from the InfoToday Web site. Here's the link to the article:

I don't see the link I sent you for the Library Success Wiki. I posted a bit of info on our e-Card under Access/Online Library Card Registration and e-Card Services.

Hi Joanna,

Do you get Computers in Libraries magazines? That's where the article will be. I'll be looking on the InfoToday Web site to see if they include a live link to the article as soon as it is published. Of course I can send you more info about it. I've got some info up on the Library Success Wiki.

Go ahead Joanna, succumb... nothing wrong with it :)

I am not sure if there is just one name, but the one I like the best is "crackberry"
