Here is a link to a fascinating article. The British Library has developed a storage facility that preserves items in a vacuum. Since the environment is a low-oxygen environment, robots are required to handle the items.

At Digipalooza this year, I took this photo of attendees in the conference center. Everyone is on a digital device. Some were using cellphones and tablets simultaneously. The general public is still under the impression that librarians sit around and handle books all day. Far from the truth! We are truly wired professionals.
