fun video

I pulled this library video from one of my library group sites on Facebook. It's great fun!

I'm still working through my list of 2.0 things to experience, but I can't help feeling that the list is getting longer instead of shorter. Does anyone feel capable of keeping up with all the newest bits of technology? My hat is off to you - in fact I feel I should hold it out in front of…

Library 2.0 23 things - here I go!

Okay, in my last post I said that some fellow librarians and I were looking into checking off items from a "23 Things" list. We've compiled the list - heavily borrowed from various excellent sites - and today is the first day of our "23 Things" endeavor. I just completed the first step, and it's been fun so far. : )

If anyone would like to join in, please do! You may go to http://hopenobel.tripod.com/assignment2.html to view the list. It was put together as part of a web design class,…

23 things

A few library friends and I have decided we're going to catch up on this new web revolution, starting by tackling the "23 things" system that has been used with such success by other library systems. (Is that a run on sentence? hmm...) Anyway, I'm pleased to have company on this journey - both those of you who are way ahead of me, and those who feel themselves behind. This is going to be a lot of fun, and I'll keep updates on my progress here so that you can join in if you like!

Hi Elizabeth,
I'm a teacher librarian & recently started a community based blog for getting boys to read - http://GettingBoysToRead.com. Please send me a friend request if you'd like to network, share ideas, and learn more about getting boys to read.

Sincerely,
Mike McQueen

Hi Elizabeth,

Thanks for your note! Programming is great fun but can really be a challenge too! I look forward to using Library 2.0 to learn and share with other librarians! Happy programming!

in addition to my blog below, I'd like to say - Retrievr on Flickr is WAY to much fun. Now leaving my list activities and getting back to real work...

I'm on the third week of Library 2.0 things to do, and it's a super fun week for me - we're learning Flickr. I'm an avid photographer, so I'm sure I'll be spending lots of time uploading, sending, and so on. In the meantime, it's great to have a job that allows me to explore so many new and interesting things.

Like you said, working in a small library has its benefits and its downsides. In my last library, which was very small, we had wifi before most people even knew what it was. However, in small towns with little funding, the town really needs to own the technological advances you are making otherwise it just doesn't work.

Thanks for the invite. You look like you work at a pretty small library. My last library in NH was pretty little too. Do you think this is a help or a hindrance for moving forward with innovations?
