Google Blogoscoped is announcing the low key introduction of a new version of Google News that draws readers in via photographs rather than headlines and full text. GB notes that the captions below each image are truncated so that users don't get the full meaning and sees this as a weakness in the tool. To my mind this is actually intended to drive traffic to the full text on the actual content providers site. It circumvents the complaint that Google is making money off the content providers without paying for it.
Worth a quick look.
