I am excited! I am a bit overwhelmed!

These are the things I've taught myself in the past couple of weeks:

Basic SQL (online tutorials)
The fact that Horizon is an application using an MS SQL Server database
What the IP addresses for our domain are
How to start and stop some services on a server
How to use backup tapes on our server
How to run a couple of ad hoc reports
Somewhat about proxy servers
Subbed to what relevant lists I could find

Unfortunately, the list of things I have to learn asap is much longer:

Windows 2000 Server
LAN Administration
System Administration for Horizon
Who all of our vendors are and how to contact
What is up with all of the licensing agreements
What is the basic info about our servers
How to liaise with a college
How to give BI classes
Horizon Information Portal
More about table structures

I pray nothing horrible goes wrong!

Thanks, Ellyssa!!! I looked at your page, and WOW!! That was maybe too humbling for me at this juncture. :-)

Richard -- ai ai ai. I would LOVE to do programming. I used to write UNIX shell scripts for fun. No really. However, I am a babe in the woods. There is some point in programming where my brain slams against the wall and I lose the thread of it. *sigh* Maybe someday it'll finally click for me.
