the future of libraries in the digital age

Yesterday we had a discussion with some of the staff about charging for movies. We charge .50 for residents and $1.00 for non-residents for five days. If they want to keep it for ten days they can, but we charge double. This applies to both VHS and DVD formats. I'm curious to know what other libraries do.

We don't charge in Marion County, FL either and we also have a loan period of three weeks, but we limit AV checkouts to six at a time.

We don't charge in Fountaindale, and unless the movie is a "high demand" release, we let them check it out for 3 weeks. High demand dvds have a 7 day check out.
