I elected to go through a reseller we've worked with on several occasions in lieu of having to haggle with Dell, HP, etc. Here's what we managed to get.

Dell Vostro 1500
2 gig RAM
1.60 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB dedicated Video Ram

All that for $1200 bucks a machine. I ended up well below my budget and managed to get a killer system. For the past week I've been getting updates, installing new software, and taking off things I don't need. My director allowed me to purchase AVG Anti-Virus due to it being cheaper and more reliable than Nortons. I must say it felt great to liberate my library from the grip of Norton. FREEDOM!

We purchased Office Professional Plus from TechSoup. I highly recommend others check out this service as it is the cheapest around. The application process isn't too rough, I had to fill out a questionnaire about our library which asked how many pc's we had, how many employees, and other similar questions. I was approved within the day. The version of Office we bought was $60 a license through GovConnect, TechSoup was $20.

This is my first big purchase since being hired. Feels wonderful to get it out of the way.
