“Books are for man it that for birds is wings.” (A.S.Puskin) I like reading and books. My favorite authors are Karel Capek, Erich Maria Remarque, and F.M.Dostojevskij etc. I am a student of library and information science. We are young librarians and we have literature. I “had to” read an interesting book, 1984 from George Orwell. Who was George Orwell?

George Orwell was British writer. He was born in 25th June 1903. His born town was Monthihari. Father of George Orwell worked as an officer. Mother descended from French family.

He studied in England since 1911. He studied on Eton College (1917-1921). In this school he began write articles in student’s magazine. He worked like a policeman in Barma (1922-1927). He left from Barma and lived with homeless, workers 2 years.

He worked in newspaper since 1930. He wrote under pseudonym George Orwell. Orwell is a river in the east of England. He wanted to forgot on past. This is a reason why he “changed” the name.

George Orwell was in Spanish Civil War. First like a redactor, but he fought in Republican’s Army. Allay of Republican’s Army was The Soviet Union. He recognized philosophy of Stalin. This is an inspiration to books Animal farm (1945) and 1984 (1946).

He died in 21st January 1950 in London. He was ill, suffer on tuberculosis.

I read Animal farm and 1984 and I think that books are very important for all of people.
