Hi Julie,
I'm a teacher librarian & recently started a community based blog for getting boys to read - http://GettingBoysToRead.com. Please send me a friend request if you'd like to network, share ideas, and learn more about getting boys to read.

Sincerely,
Mike McQueen

How are you? Was thinking of you whenever I saw Barney Frank on the news. Hahaha. I have to send you those photos I took of him. Are you going to the Depository Library Conference?

I will, for sure. It would be great to meet you in the future as gov docs librarians!

Hi Julie! How great! Please let me know how you like the job! I really hope to find the same thing! I hope the kinds of classes I have taken in library school will be o.k. for a dream job like you have!!! Keep in touch! Linda

Hi Julie! Congratulations for your graduation! I am still in library school, I think I will graduate in May of 09. This semester has been wild, I took database design-the class is difficult but interesting. I still am interested in Government Docs librarianship. The university has one class concentrating on governemnt docs so I am unsure if that will be enough to break into that area. This fall, I will do my practicum.
Keep in touch and let me know how the job hunting is going!

Hi Julie!
I explored your Government Documents page and it is really great! Especially nice is the link to Google US Government Search and the Frequently used sites. Great design, very easy to navigate.

Hi Julie! I have not acessed this site for awhile, but figured I should become more active. How do I view your page?

Thanks for the info and support! I'm not going to worry about it until I graduate...with comps and Collection Development, I'll be busy until December. How do you like where you are working now? Are you originally from Minnesota? I was born in Evanston, Ill. and my relatives have lived in Chicago since the 1850s. Quite a few live in Wisconsin now. Do you miss the change of seasons?

I think I heard that Lee County is still doing well. They might still be hiring these days. We have a hiring freeze here, and I am sure it will be harder than it was to find a job, but not impossible. That happened to me when I graduated. Minnesota (where I was living) was experiencing the same kind of thing. I ended up moving to New Hampshire for a year and a half before settling in FL. If you need support when the time comes, let me know!

Hi Julie thanks for the friend request! Are you a FL native, or did you come from somewhere else like the rest of us? I have a B.A. in Art History, and am generally crafty, although I wouldn't consider myself talented enough to be a true artist.

Hi Julie! Thanks for making me your friend. USF Tampa library saved me many times when I was working on my MLS. I just graduated in December . . . what a relief! That's my cat Hobbes with his security tick, a toy he takes with him wherever he goes: to play, to cuddle, to sleep. He's 15 but still acts like a kitten . . .

Hi Julie! How did your survey go? Hope all is well. You asked in your message if I am involved distance education, and yes, it is all on the web. I enjoy it!
I am very interested in government docs! I am not sure if that will be my career. Some librarians tell me since it is all online, there is not much security in the position. Others tell me go for it!

Hi Julie,
I think I missed the deadline on your survey - how did the pre-test go?

OK I did the survey. I didn't know most of the applications you asked about, sorry I'm not a tech person at al. I am in awe of you generation x librarians you all are so at ease with the 2.0 social networking environment. Seriously, I had a rotary phone until 1985.

All set - I wonder if you might find a followup survey interesting. I, for one, didn't know about some of the things available on LIbrary 2.0 until I took your survey. So many of my answers may be different in a month. Can't wait to see the results of your survey- - well done!
