Short Session Description (one line):

Can we help elementary school students that suffer from burnout from academic stress (also known as "hemmasittare") back to school through the (school)libraries?

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

In Sweden there are more and more elementary school students that fall in to what might be called "hemmasittare" and/or students that suffer from burnout from academic stress, these students have for a number of reasons a hard time attending school. One of the many risks with an insufficient or incomplete education is the risk of exclusion. If you don´t have an education you might not get a job or you might not get the job you want. You might find yourself excluded from options that others with education can take part of. For many students the school area becomes a stress factor. One way a library/ a school library can function as an anchor or a bridge back into the community is that a library is a more neutral area to study and/or meet teachers. A school library/a library can also be a place to be offered an alternative education. The librarians/school librarians might function as a more neutral educator/counselor/person to talk to.

This study presented in this proposal aims to interview school librarians to get their experience and view of how this work can be done or have been done. What do the school librarians/librarians see as issues/possible problems with reaching the students? What possibilities are there?
