    About Me:

I will be joining the full-time faculty at the School of Library & Information Science, San Jose State University in the Fall 2012. Prior to this, from 2008, I was an Associate Professor at Dominican University's Graduate School of Library and Information Science, River Forest, IL, USA. I hold a PhD in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. My primary teaching and research interests are in the areas of crisis informatics and community informatics. My research focuses on information needs and information seeking in crises; disaster health information, and roles for librarians and information professionals in crisis preparedness and recovery. I edited Crisis Information Management: Communication and Technologies, published in 2012 by Chandos Publishing and edited a special issue of the Bulletin of the American Society for Information Science & Technology on crisis informatics. I have worked as an academic librarian in the USA and UK in a variety of positions. My professional experience also includes serving as Head of Library Development for INASP an international non-government development organization; lecturer positions at the International Centre for Information Management Systems and Services, University of Nicholas Copernicus, Torun, Poland, and at the Department of Information Studies, Northumbria University, UK.
