    About Me:

I'm a New Yorker by birth, but I've been around a bit. NY, NJ, DE, MA were longer term. RI, PA, and AK (yeah, Alaska) were short stays. The child of a blue collar family, I've been lucky in obtaining an education. I find that my family has shrunken over the years and I am now considered an "elder orphan" but I do have a brother left, so I'm still in luck. I am now a children's librarian-- a "newbie" in my library branch (somewhat over ten years.) Prior to this, I worked briefly as a teen librarian. Most of my career (1980-2006) has been in college student services: academic records and student financial aid. (My first master's is in Counselling/College Student Development.) This work spanned several states: NY, NJ, and PA, as I followed my husband's career. The years at one college included ten years of part-time work at a library in clerical and programming capacities. (No, not computer programming. Exhibits, clubs, trips, lectures, etc.) But I've worked or volunteered in other fields, too -- mostly museum work, but it's been rather a while since I did that. Here's an interesting tidbit. I'm presently at home due to a pandemic. My dad was orphaned at the age of 14 months as a result of --what else? -- the Spanish Influenza of 1918.
