    About Me:

I am currently a Distance and Instructional Services Librarian for the Alvin Sherman Library at Nova Southeastern University. I received my Master's degree in Information Studies at the University of Texas at Austin School of Information where I was a co-director for the UT ALA/TLA Student Chapter. Prior to pursuing graduate studies, I taught English Language Arts at a low income school in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas through the Teach for America program. I have also attended the University of Florida where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology Summa Cum Laude as well as minors in Spanish and Family, Youth, and Community Sciences. I am particularly interested in the role of instructional and reference services in creating information literacy programs for college students. Professionally, I would like to investigate how the educational achievement gap extends into the context of college and what role librarians can play in closing this gap. I am currently serving on the ALA Library Instruction Round Table Web Advisory Committee, the ACRL Instruction Section Professional Education Committee, and the ACRL Distance Learning Section Instruction Committee.
