    About Me:

I apply new technologies to improving library customer services and look after the Manchester Library, Information and Archives social media channels. I create daily content and manage an online community of 14,000 followers. Not bad for a public library! I also manage the Manchester Zoom website, the library's mobile app plus I create content and maintain library web pages and intranet. I also build partnerships with businesses, non-profits and local community groups to deliver innovative digital literacy programmes across the city including Coding for Girls, Robogals, Mini Makerspaces and IT for Women (from basic IT to programming and web development). I'm currently programming activities for the new Media Lounge in Manchester Central Library - so far we have Internet Radio Production, banner making and digital photography. I do proper librarian stuff too and manage the PATLIB intellectual property enquiry service, organise monthly patent clinics and answer IP questions from across Greater Manchester including copyright, trademark and patent information. In my spare time I organise LibraryCamp UK, an unconference for people interested in libraries. I'm also fundraising and organising the first ever National Public Libraries FestivaI. I give talks on social media and libraries to library school students and conferences, help out at social media surgeries and I'm a member of Shelf Free, a national group campaigning for better ebook provision in libraries.
