About Me:
Zola Mumford is a Reference and Instruction Librarian at North Seattle College. She is the Librarian liaison to ESL, IEP, Basic and Transitional Studies, Art, and Humanities. She is a 2018 judge for the Washington State Book Awards. Mumford has co-curated the Langston Hughes African American Film Festival, a program of the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute. Her background also includes arts event management, film and TV production, historical research, and preservation work with film and print materials in university and private film and art archives. As a panelist, curator, and presenter she has spoken at GeekGirl Con, the Experience Music Project (now MoPop) Pecha Kucha Seattle, and the Northwest African American Museum on subjects ranging from archival research to film history to science fiction/speculative fiction. Her writing includes “‘'The Politics of Steampunk: Panel Report and Reflections" in The WisCon Chronicles, Vol. 5: Writing and Racial Identity (Aqueduct Press, 2011) and HistoryLink.org essays on historic places and the people who use them, such as Washington Hall (http://bit.ly/T7OfbH).
