In February 2019 the Redwood City Public Library received a Shared Vision Early Learning Grant from the CA State Library to create a sustainable Sensory Friendly Storytime program for the community. Coinciding with the pandemic, we experimented with online storytime, take home kits, and partnerships to reach this under-served population. Join us for a discussion of the goals, successes, setbacks and lessons learned during the two year development of a Sensory Friendly Storytime program designed to reach children on the ASD spectrum in the library, classrooms, day cares, and playgrounds where they are most comfortable.
