Hi, Cohort Members!
These workbooks are your launchpad for building a thoughtful, actionable AI roadmap. The first two will help your team identify who’s in your group, map key stakeholders, and start shaping your AI vision, top priorities, and the resources you’ll need to move forward.
Format options
- Google Doc to copy and use: https://docs.google.com/document/d/13rzdSo4JgSUjyPQ_zB-8uYGSRpm_i6OpCHVxGQ2sWyE/edit?usp=sharing
- Word Document: AI Leadership Cohort Roadmap_ Workbooks 1 and 2.docx
Suggested Due Date: October 7
This keeps everyone moving on the roadmap. You can:
- Assign different team members to complete sections individually, then regroup to review and edit, or
- Work through the sections together in meetings if that fits your team's style and schedules.
Flexibility is Key:
Some parts of the homework may not feel relevant to your organization, or may feel too big to tackle just yet. That’s okay! Skip what doesn’t fit, or adapt sections to your context.
Share & Discuss:
Please post your reflections and work in this forum, along with any questions for the group. This is how we encourage and support each other. Comment on other participants’ posts to offer ideas or cheer them on.
Attach your homework (whatever stage it’s in!) here so others can learn from your approach. I'll be in the forum, too, offering comments, encouragement, and light coaching to help you keep momentum and troubleshoot challenges as you go.
You can also email Crystal and Steve about any specific questions: librariesforward@gmail.com

Hi, Gayla Lynn Inscoe! Thank you for sharing in the forum! This is also the location to post your team's Week 1 homework when you are ready. I look forward to hearing more from you and your team!
This is Gayla Inscoe from Logan County Public Library. There are 3 more people from our library taking this class. I, for one am eager to learn of more ways to utilize AI. I am sure we use it in so many ways already that we are not aware of. I think we, as a resource to the community, need to be able to offer all of the most updated information we can to the public. . Right now there is some skepticism and questions that still go unanswered, but as with any change, in time, we will adapt to it. There are a few things that have come to my mind. Such as, will all of this continue to be free, or will it start to charge for usage somehow? Also, another one of my concerns is clarity, how do you determine the true and the hallucination? I am sure there are many other questions and I want our library to be prepared by answering them correctly. We want to continue to assure the patrons that they can trust us.

Hi, Morgan Fitzgerald
Thank you for posting first to the thread, and for the thoughtful work you've done so far for Orilla Public Library. You're on a great track. There's a lot of overlap in your AI Vision Statement work with work I did with a local library this week. The bold part is their succinct vision statement, and the rest are supporting statements for a paragraph version.
At Beaverton City Library, we’re exploring AI to lead with confidence, expand our impact, and create new opportunities for learning and connection. As a trusted community hub, we want to be proactive—not just keeping up, but guiding others with clarity and care. AI aligns with our values of curiosity and lifelong learning, and it opens doors for us to teach, support, and inspire. Whether it’s helping staff manage time more effectively, enhancing library services, or offering new tools for job seekers and learners, AI can help us evolve into an even more dynamic third space. We recognize that not everyone is passionate about new technology, but with the right support and growing confidence, staff will be able to build the skills they need to engage with AI in ways that feel meaningful, manageable, and aligned with their work.

Hello! I am from Orillia Public Library. We are a pretty small library so I am doing this course alone, and taking ideas/framework drafts back to the rest of my team for further development :).
