Session 3 Homework (Suggested due date: October 21)

Hi, Cohort Members!

Links to Workbooks:

Workbook 3: Training Pathways
This workbook supports your library in designing role-based AI training, setting clear expectations, and identifying areas for growth. You’ll:

  • Examine key factors shaping how AI training happens in your organization (e.g., workload, leadership guidance, existing tools, community expectations).
  • Define training success measures that align with your library’s AI vision.
  • Identify competencies and gaps by staff group or role.
  • Start designing a training menu that fits your culture, using evidence-based principles of workplace learning.

Workbook 4: Tools & Sandboxes
This workbook helps your team inventory tools, evaluate them using the REAL rubric (Relevance, Ethics & Access, Accuracy, Logistics), and set up sandbox guidelines for safe experimentation.

  • Start with a simple tools inventory (both staff-facing and patron-facing).
  • Evaluate 1–2 tools for fit using the rubric.
  • Draft a few sandbox “rules of the road” and define success vs. sunset criteria.

Suggested Due Date: October 21

This keeps the cohort moving steadily from vision into practical planning. You can:

  • Divide up the work by assigning sections to different team members, then regroup to review and edit, or
  • Work through it together during meetings if that fits your team’s rhythm.
  • Flexibility is key: Adapt or skip any sections that don’t fit your context right now. Focus on momentum over perfection.

Tip: Head over to the recording PDF slides for links to all the examples shared during the session (on your Tier homepage starting October 9). These can help spark ideas as you complete your workbooks.

Share & Discuss

  • Please post your reflections, discoveries, and drafts in this forum. Comment on others’ posts to offer ideas or encouragement. Seeing how different libraries approach this stage is one of the most valuable parts of the cohort.
  • I’ll be in the forum as well, offering comments, encouragement, and light coaching to help you refine your plans and troubleshoot challenges.
  • You can also email Crystal and Steve with specific questions: librariesforward@gmail.com
